Jeffrey S. Jordan, Partner, Chicago Illinois

Jeff Jordan has devoted his career to helping people injured by another person’s negligence. During his second year in law school, Jeff began working as a law clerk for a law firm that represented injured people and their families in personal injury and Workers’ Compensation claims. Upon graduation from law school, Jeff continued representing injured people and their families and takes pride in doing so today as an Associate at O’Connor & Nakos, Ltd.

Jeff has tried multiple cases to verdict and obtained numerous impressive verdicts and settlements in favor of his clients, including the following:

• $950,000 for the family of a woman who died of a heart attack due to her primary care doctor’s failure to diagnose and treat Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia.

• $505,000 for the driver of a vehicle sideswiped by a tractor trailer causing the driver to undergo neck surgery.

• $500,000 for a minor who suffered fusarium keratitis eye infection and required corneal transplant due to use of defective contact lens solution.

• $385,000 for Local #444 Ironworker who slipped and fell on ice covered by snow on a construction site, causing a herniated disk in his neck which required fusion surgery.

• $287,500 for an ironworker who was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle, causing him a fractured scapula.

• $240,000 for tile-worker who tripped and fell on a rock covered by Tyvek on a construction site, requiring knee and shoulder surgery.

• $227,000 for woman who tripped and fell in a pothole in the crosswalk of a busy intersection in the City of Chicago, causing a fractured kneecap.

• $210,000 for passenger on a Vespa Scooter which was struck by a taxicab while both the Vespa and the taxi were attempting to turn, causing a collision in which the passenger suffered a fractured tibia and fibula.

• $210,000 for the driver of a vehicle sideswiped by a tractor trailer causing the driver to undergo shoulder surgery.

• Loyola University Chicago School of Law, J.D. 2004, with honors, Cum Laude, and with a Certificate in Trial Advocacy. During law school, Jeff earned the highest grade in his entire class for the following courses: Illinois Litigation, Complex Issues in Personal Injury Litigation, and Criminal Law. Jeff and his two teammates were the National Champions of the Wagner Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition in 2003.

Publications/Presentations:
Jeff has published two articles for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Journal publication, titled: Construction Negligence: The Past, Present and Future Application of Section 414 of the Restatement (Second) Torts in Illinois, Winter 2005, Volume 7, No. 1; and The Case for a More Practical, Nuts-and-Bolts, Approach to Law School Curriculum: A Former Student’s Perspective, Winter 2009, Volume 11, Number 1.

Jeff provided a presentation at an Illinois Trial Lawyers Continuing Legal Education Seminar: Other Liens: Med Pay, Workers’ Comp, Medicare Set Aside, Insurance Liens and Settlement Seminar, March 28, 2009.

Jeff again served as an Illinois Trial Lawyers Faculty Member on February 15, 2010 when he provided a presentation for a Continuing Legal Education Seminar on the issue of Medicare.
